Naomi has a fascination with all things aquatic these days. It all began with our trip to SeaWorld this summer and her wet introduction to Shamu. A trip which she can recall in extreme detail. So it's all about whales, dolphins, jellyfish, etc. She carries around a stuffed Shamu EVERYWHERE and sleeps with it every night.
She loves "Finding Nemo" naturally (a trip to two aquariums and several tanks containing "Nemo" and "Dori" fish have been enjoyed by all). A few weeks ago she was introduced to "The Little Mermaid" through the cheesy cartoons they made after the movie and it's been nothing but Ariel talk ever since. I think the sight of seeing something slightly human like herself WITH a tail who can swim underwater like Shamu is like having your cake and eating too to Naomi.
Disney has released the Little Mermaid on DVD and so I purchased it knowing full well that we should expect to watch it every day at least twice from now until the end of time.
It came in the mail today. She actually did a little stomping of the feet happy dance when we showed it to her.
We've already watched it twice.
Towards the end of the first viewing she turns to me, very serious tone in her voice and says, "I should have a tail too."
All I could say was, "Really?"
Her response, "Yeah. You need to buy me one."
